Since October 2022, Carlos Herrera (he/him) has been the Vice President of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) at Ryan Specialty and supports ongoing efforts to create, promote, and enhance DEI at the firm, in addition to building strong alliances with the insurance industry and our communities.
Carlos brings 25 years of experience in Talent Acquisition, University Relations, and DEI. He has played strategic and influential roles with operationalizing key performance standards and initiatives. Specifically, he led, empowered, and enhanced Employee Resource Groups, Disability Inclusion strategies, Diversity Recruitment, Training & Facilitation, hosted Open & Inclusive Conversations, supported Inclusion Councils, along with building relationships and partnering with key external stakeholders. Carlos is also honored to have participated in assignments with the Culture, HR Client Partnership, and Leadership Principles Change Champion Teams.
Carlos has practical experience in building a diverse and inclusive culture and workforce. He understands the benefits and importance of creating a workplace culture where every employee is safe, respected, and able to reach their full potential. Carlos’ family roots started in the little pueblos de Mexico. He was born and raised in the Chicagoland area with both his parents and three brothers. He is a graduate from Illinois State University. Ultimately, Carlos strives to live in his happy place every day.
